The CHHMA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the Scholarship Award recipients for the year 2019.

The finalists were chosen by ballot draw and this year we are pleased to award five scholarships:

Alexis Santa Ana – Brampton, Ontario
Alexis is the daughter of Alexander Santa Ana who works with Robert Bosch.  She will be attending the University of Guelph in the fall working towards a degree in English. She was very involved with the RISE program at school which provided her with great leadership skills. Alexis would like to be a teacher and hopes to educate and influence future generations to be the best they can be.

 

 

Justin Duby – Montreal, Q.C.Justin is the son of Dominque Pepin who works for PPG Industries. He will be attending Polytechnique Montréal pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering degree.  Justin has already completed two internships plus eight months of part-time work in the school lab.  He was hoping to win this scholarship which would enable him to apply for an internship in France at an ophthalmological products manufacturer. 

 

 

Krish Gandhi – Edmonton, AlbertaKrish is the son of Manishkemar Gandhi who works for Recochem Inc. He will be attending the University of Alberta to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. Krish is hoping to one day be part of the next big breakthrough in technology.  One of his dreams is to travel to Europe in hopes of meeting Lionel Messi who has inspired him to never give up, learn from mistakes, and always attempt to have a positive attitude.  

 

 

Laura Leaman – Riverview, New BrunswickLaura is the daughter of Jeff Leaman who works for The Hillman Group Canada.  She will be attending the University of PEI majoring in Biology.  Laura would like to work in the field of medicine but has yet to decide whether she would like to attend medical school or a veterinary college.  One thing she does know, is that she would like to change the world in a positive way.  

 

 

Rachel Tran – Maple, OntarioRachel is the daughter of Jennie La who works for Kidde Canada. Rachel will be attending Ryerson University in the fall to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  She hopes to one day travel the world and experience all the different cultures and traditions.  Rachel has given a great deal of time to her community and school programs, going above and beyond the hours required.  

 

The CHHMA would like to thank everyone who applied for this year’s scholarships. Since 2001, the CHHMA has awarded $200,000 towards scholarships and some 100 young people have benefited from the program.
